iPhone Repair Guide for the Brave DIYer: Don't Panic, Read This First!

iPhone Repair Guide for the Brave DIYer: Don't Panic, Read This First!

— We provide reliable parts, but your success depends on patience and attention to detail.

Step 1: Three Things You MUST Know Before Starting
1. Mindset Matters: Think "Precision Surgery"
Goal: Replace the faulty "organ" (component) with minimal collateral damage.
Key Rule: Patience > Force. Most clips and screws are delicate.
Expectation: Your first repair will likely take 1-2 hours longer than a tutorial video shows. This is normal.
2. Safety & Disclaimer (CRITICAL!)
Your Data is Priceless: You MUST perform a full backup via iCloud or a computer before any repair. There is always a small risk of data loss.
You Assume the Risk: DIY repair will void any remaining Apple warranty and may cause additional damage if done incorrectly. Please proceed only if you accept this responsibility.
Personal Safety: Handle batteries with extreme care. Avoid puncturing or bending them. If a battery is swollen, STOP. Do not attempt repair. Seek professional help immediately.
3. Tools & Preparation
Essential Tools: You will need a quality Precision Screwdriver Set (must include Pentalobe/5-point star bits), Plastic Spudgers/Opening Picks, a Suction Cup, and Anti-Static Tweezers.
Workspace: A clean, well-lit, and uncluttered table is best. An anti-static mat is ideal.
Parts Organization: Use a magnetic project mat or several small containers to sort screws by their location and length as you remove them. This is a critical step for success!

Step 2: The Universal Repair Process (The Core Method)
Regardless of the part, follow this general process:
1. Power Down & Disconnect: Turn off your iPhone and unplug all cables.
2. Remove Bottom Screws: Use the correct screwdriver to remove the two long screws on either side of the charging port.
3. Safely Open the Display:
• Gently heat the edges of the screen (especially on iPhone 7 and newer) with a hairdryer on low/medium to soften the adhesive.
• Use the suction cup to create a small gap and immediately wedge a plastic spudger inside.
Never pull hard! Carefully slide the spudger around the sides. Do not go all the way to the top, as the display is connected by cables there—think of opening it like a book cover.
4. DISCONNECT THE BATTERY FIRST! (The Golden Rule)
• Once open, the FIRST thing you must do is disconnect the battery cable connector. This prevents accidental short circuits while you work.
5. Replace the Target Part:
• Disconnect the flex cables connected to the old part.
• Remove any screws or brackets securing it.
• Remove the old part, install the new one (ensuring it's the correct model from us), and reverse the removal steps.
6. Test Before Final Assembly (Key Step!):
• Before closing everything up, reconnect the battery cable, then connect the cable for the new part.
• Lay the display back in place (don't snap it shut), and power on the device.
Test all related functions thoroughly. Only proceed if everything works perfectly.
7. Reassemble & Finish:
• Reconnect any remaining cables, replace all brackets and screws in their exact locations. No screws should be left over or missing!
• For water resistance, apply a new adhesive gasket (available in our store) around the screen frame.
• Close the display and reinstall the two bottom screws.

Step 3: Key Points for Common Flex Cable/Part Replacements
(This is where you insert specific notes for your parts)

Part Being Replaced Special Instructions (When Using Our Parts) Common "Point of Failure" to Avoid
Battery 1. Use the adhesive tabs to slowly pull the old battery out. If a tab breaks, a few drops of high-purity isopropyl alcohol (available in our store) can help dissolve the adhesive. Never pry with a metal tool!
2. Our batteries come with new adhesive strips pre-installed.
Puncturing a swollen battery! This is extremely dangerous.
Display Assembly 1. Our display assemblies include the front camera/earpiece bracket. You must carefully transfer the small components (earpiece speaker, ambient light sensor, front camera) from your old display to the new one.
2. After installation, check if
True Tone works in Settings > Display & Brightness.
1. Tearing the front flex cables during the transfer process.
2.
Forgetting to install the display bracket screws, which can cause touch issues.
Charging Port Flex Cable 1. Our flex cables integrate the microphone and speaker contacts. Ensure proper alignment during installation.
2. After installing, test
charging, speaker sound, and bottom microphone (Voice Memos app).
Improper seating, leading to charging issues or no audio from the speaker.
Rear Camera 1. Our cameras are high-quality replacements and typically work without calibration.
2. If focus seems off, try restarting the phone.
Getting fingerprints or dust on the camera lens during installation, causing spots in photos. Clean with compressed air first.
Volume/Power Button Flex Cable 1. Our flex assemblies include buttons, the flash cable connector, and microphones.
2. Don't lose the small
flash diffuser lens (a tiny square of glass) when transferring.
Losing the flash diffuser lens, resulting in dark shadows in flash photos.
Taptic Engine (Vibration Motor) Ensure the mounting screws are tight after installation, or vibration will feel loose. Forgetting to tighten the screws.

Step 4: What to Do If You Run Into Problems
Phone won't turn on or acts strangely after reassembly? Power off immediately. Re-check every single cable connection to ensure they are seated straight and fully clicked in. Start with the battery cable.
Have leftover screws? DO NOT force them in. Re-trace your steps to find where they belong. A screw in the wrong place can pierce the logic board or display.
A specific function doesn't work? First, rule out software: restart the phone. If the problem persists, re-check the cable for that specific function.
